It’s medium-action which suites all levels of anglers, it’ll be stiff enough to put out a line in the wind but still be forgiving for a beginner. The rods come in a range of sizes to suite any situation and all rods 7 weight and above comes with a full-wells grip and an anodized aluminum reel seat for use in saltwater and freshwater.

The reel is also made to good specs, is durable and will stand up well to corrosion. It’s a large arbor reel giving you a quick retrieve and a large line capacity. It’s made from a polymer that can be used in salt or freshwater and it includes a strong yet smooth disc drag. It’s easy to switch the spool over to either right of left hand retrieve too, so anyone can be happy with the setup.

The package includes backing, fly line, and leader to make life even easier but the fly line is not the best and you may want to buy a separate one that’s a little better.

FishingSir is a less well-known brand but they have put together a great combo nonetheless. It comes with everything you could possibly need. The rod is well made, the 3/4 and 5/6 weight options are the prefect size for all kinds of freshwater fishing. It’s a mid-flex, medium action rod and is perfect all abilities especially beginners.

The reel is a large arbor for a quick retrieve and is made from die-cast aluminum. Die-cast aluminum stands up well to corrosion but it will dent or scratch so be sure to look after it. The spool pops out from the frame thanks to the quick release tab and it’s then easy to change the retrieve side for left to right or vice versa. The drag is a made from a Teflon disc system, is smooth, powerful and you can rely on it to do the job in freshwater.

The combo comes with a fly line, tapered leader, backing and flies that all fit inside the carry case. How awesome is that? You can simply pop it into the boot of the car and off you go. It’s a great setup for bass, crappies, bluegill and trout fishing. The fly line is not the best and you may want to buy a better one separately.

This is a great little beginner’s combo that comes with everything you’ll need to start your fly fishing career with. It all arrives neatly in a zippered case so you can go straight down to the water and start setting up to go fishing.

The combo only comes in one size, 5/6 weight, which will cover all freshwater situations but it’s not heavy enough for use in saltwater despite the product description. The rod is made from carbon fiber, is strong but light and great to cast with.

The reel is die-cast aluminum which works well against corrosion but will dent or scratch so be sure to look after it. It comes with a one clutch bearing for the click intermediate drag. This drag is not powerful but it’s enough to keep the line from back-lashing. The spool is simple to remove and from there its easy to change the retrieve to right or left as your prefer.

The combo includes everything you could think of; fly line, backing, tapered leader, braided loop connectors, 12 flies and a fly box. The flies and line are poor quality and you may want to replace them.

This thirty dollar combo is what you’d expect for such a low price. The 5/6 weight rod is pretty good but the reel is terrible. That being said it’ll get the job done, especially if you’re fishing for small fish like trout.

There are no details about the materials the rod or reel are made from but I’m guessing that it’s not the best based on the price. This is a great kit of you only want the rod, or if you’re buying it for a beginner who can use it, love it, hate it, break it for a very low price.

This is another sweet combo from Redington. The rod is made from graphite, casts well and comes in a medium-fast action, great for all levels of fly fishermen. The rod comes on both a 2-piece or 4-piece option. 2-piece rods are known to cast a little better whereas 4-piece rods are great for travelling with. I’d always go for the 4-piece but the choice is yours.

The reel is made from a durable polymer, it comes ready filled with fly line and backing which is handy. There’s a reliable disc drag on the reel which is smooth and strong enough for most situations.

The combo comes with a solid rod tube to ensure the rods are safe while travelling. The vase has reinforced caps at either ends to ensure it’ll last for many a fishing adventure.

Overall it’s a top quality combo but it is a bit on the expensive side.

It’s made for a pro-angler and priced as an entry level product. If your new to fishing but love it, this is great option for you as you’ll avoid having to upgrade from a basic combo.

The rod is beautiful to cast with, the reel is made from aluminum and is a large arbor. Unfortunately, neither of them are made for saltwater though. The line is solid which is unusual in a combo and the package comes with a handy tracvel case.

This is the perfect combo for a beginner that wants to get better at fishing. It is a little expensive but the quality is worth it.
